Karla K. McGregor
Karla K. McGregor received a B.A. degree in English from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, USA in 1984, a M.S. degree in speech pathology from Purdue University, Lafayette, IN, USA in 1987, and a Ph.D. degree in Speech Pathology, also from Purdue, in 1992. She then joined the faculty of Communication Sciences and Disorders at Northwestern University, Evanston, IL, USA as an Assistant Professor and was subsequently promoted to Associate Professor in 1998. In 2005 she joined the Faculty of Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Iowa, Iowa City, USA where she was promoted to her current position of full professor in 2008. She is currently also an Adjunct Professor (courtesy position) on the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Sydney, Australia. Dr. McGregor’s research is concerned with word learning, memory, and usage. She focuses particularly on learners with developmental language impairments. She is a past Editor for Language for the Journal of Speech, Language, and Hearing Research. In 2009 she was made a Fellow of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
