Ki-Chul Hwang serves as a Professor at Severance Biomedical Institute and Cardiovascular Research Institute at the Yonsei University College of Medicine, Republic of Korea. He received his Ph.D. degree from the Korea University in Republic of Korea and completed his Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Cleveland, OH, USA, and at The Victor Chang Cardiac Research, NSW University, Sydney, Australia. He works as the Director of Research in Cardiovascular Research Institute at the Yonsei University College of Medicine and as the Dean of Strenthening Korea’s Science and Technology Infrastructure, Basic Science Program, Korea Science and Engineering Foundation. He has consecutively assumed the position of a (Senior) Editorial Board Member at the World Journal of Stem Cells, American Journal of Stem Cells, and Journal of Geriatric Cardiology. Much of his research career has focused on the adult stem cells, and he is recognized to be at the forefront of the emerging field about functional enhancement in stem cells and its therapeutic role associated with many diseases.
