Amgad N. Makaryus
Amgad N. Makaryus grew up in New York, NY, USA and completed his undergraduate studies by graduating summa cum laude from Brooklyn College, City University of New York, NY,USA. He completed his study at the Medical School at the SUNY Downstate Medical Center, NY, USA in 2000. He then went on to complete his internal medicine residency and cardiovascular fellowship at North Shore University Hospital, Manhasset, NY, USA. Further subspecialty training in cardiovascular imaging including echocardiography, cardiac CT, and cardiac MRI was undertaken by Makaryus at Columbia University Medical Center, NY, USA. During his training in cardiac imaging, he focused on research projects in the field of cardiovascular imaging and has been recognized as a young investigator by the Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (SCCT) in 2007. Dr. Makaryus is board-certified in internal medicine and cardiology. He has additionally received certification in nuclear cardiology, echocardiography, cardiovascular CT, and level II training in cardiac MRI. He is a Founding Member of the Society of Cardiovascular CT, a fellow of the American College of Cardiology, the American Society of Echocardiography, and the American College of Physicians. Dr. Makaryus has authored over a hundred peer-reviewed publications in the field of cardiology. His research interests include the ideal application and integration of cardiovascular imaging into the appropriate diagnosis and management of patients with and at risk for cardiovascular disease. He applies his expertise in multimodality cardiac imaging in his current capacity as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Cardiology, North Shore University Hospital, Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine, NY, USA.
