Yuxian Xia

Yuxian Xia was born in 1964 in Sichuan, China. He received the B.S. degree in forestry, Sichuan Agricultural University, Yaan, China (1981–1985), the M.S. degree in crop breeding, Southwest Agricultural University, Chongqing, China (1988–1991), and the Ph.D. degree in biochemistry, University of Bath, Bath, UK (1998–2000). He is a Professor in biology, School of Life Science, Chongqing University, as well as the Dean of Genetic Engineering Research Centre of Chongqing University and Chongqing Engineering Centre for Fungal Insecticides. His areas of expertise are the interaction system of insect and fungal pathogen, particularly the defense mechanisms of host insect and the pathogenesis of entomopathogenic fungus; identification of target genes of pest insect and functional genes related to the main characteristics of entomopathogenic fungus as pesticides; biocontrol of insects using pathogenic fungi, particularly strain improvement. He has more than 40 peer-reviewed papers, and he obtained more than 20 research grants and 11 patents.
