Saad A. Ahmed American University of Sharjah College of Engineering, Department of Mechanical Engineering United Arab Emirates Saad A. Ahmed earned his B.Sc. degree with honor from Cairo University, Egypt and his M.Sc. degree from Carleton University, Canada, and his PhD degrees from the Georgia Institute of Technology, USA (School of Aerospace Engineering) in 1981. Dr. Ahmed worked with industry as senior engineer in the combustion group for two years at Garrett Engine Company and as an aerospace engineer in the propulsion directorate-advanced propulsion division at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. He also worked as an associate professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Arizona State University and King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, Saudi Arabia. In his teaching career, Dr. Ahmed has taught fourteen undergraduate and five graduate courses; supervised several M.Sc. and PhD theses; and participated effectively in several funded research projects on advanced propulsion technology and stall. Professor Ahmed has published slightly over 100 papers in international refereed journals and conference proceedings. He was granted the 1990 Award for Excellence for Outstanding Research from the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA)-Cincinnati Section. In recognition of his eminent contributions, Professor Ahmed was selected as a member of the international advisory board for the American Biographical Institute, Inc. He is also a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). He has been included in Who's Who in America and listed in American Men and Women in Science.
