Zhiqing Shi received his M.S. and B.Eng. degrees from the East China University of Chemical Technology, Shanghai, China, and the Ph.D. degree in chemistry from Simon Fraser University, Burnaby, BC, Canada. From 1987 to 1998, he was a project leader for several fluoroelastomer projects and Chief of R&D Center, Shanghai 3F New Materials Co., Ltd., Shanghai, China. Dr. Shi joined the Membrane-Electrode-Assembly (MEA) Team at NRC Institute for Fuel Cell Innovation, Ottawa, ON, Canada, in 2002 and is a Senior Research Officer at NRC Energy, Mining & Environment Portfolio. His current interests include not only proton exchange membranes and ionomers incorporated in catalyst layers for PEMFCs, but also polymer membranes for energy storage applications. He was a project leader of several international collaboration projects including NRC Helmholtz, Germany, NRC-CSIC, Spain, NRC-MOST, China, joint research projects, and projects with one Japanese automaker and local fuel cell companies.
