Abdülkadir Sezai Sarac
A. Sezai Sarac received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in chemistry engineering from Istanbul Technical University, Istanbul, Turkey. In 1976, he obtained the Ph.D. degree in chemistry from the University of Missouri-Rolla, Rolla, MO, USA. From 1979 to 1980, he held a Postdoc position at the University of Leeds, UK. He is a Professor at the Department of Chemistry, Polymer Science and Technology, and Nanoscience and Nanoengineering, Istanbul Technical University. Also, he was a Visiting Professor at Materials and Surface Science Institute, University of Limerick from 2002 to 2003. He was the Head of Physical Chemistry Division, Head of Department of Chemistry from 1991 to 1994, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Letters from 1994 to 1997, and Director of Polymer Science and Technology from 2004 to 2010. Sarac has authored over 190 scientific publications, 8 review articles and book chapters, and about 170 conference contributions. He is a Member of New York Academy of Sciences and Chemical Society of Turkey. In addition, he is a national representative of IUPAC and was awarded a Doctor (Honoris Causa) in Chemistry Sciences from Tajikistan Academy of Sciences in 2011. Sarac was a Visiting Professor at Universitat Regensburg, Germany, Berlin Technical University, Institut für Dünnschichttechnologie und Mikrosensorik e.V.Teltow (IDM-Teltow), and University of Potsdam for 3 months each year. His recent research interest was on the thin conjugated polymeric nanofilms and nanofibers and their nanocomposites, modified carbon fibers, biosensor microelectrodes, electropolymerization , and their surface characterizations. Sarac has been awarded a number of grants and fellowsips such as DAAD, DFG, NATO Collab. Res., TUBITAK Res., and State Planning Organization Grants. Sarac is recently a NATO Partner Director of SfP project 983931, TUBITAK- ASCR Int. project 111T051, and working group Member of CMST COST Action CM1101 WG4.
