Elizabeth Rajan, M.D., is a Consultant in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Mayo Clinic and Foundation, Rochester, MN, USA. The focus of Dr. Rajan’s clinical practice is on endoscopic activities related to the use of endoscopic ultrasound, complex endoscopy, bleeding therapy and developmental endoscopy. She has a clinical interest in patients with obscure gastrointestinal bleeding with a special emphasis on the diagnostic role and clinical impact of capsule endoscopy and balloon enteroscopy in these patients. She has been actively involved with CME courses both nationally and internationally, and has been an invited speaker at several prestigious meetings. She has also served as faculty at the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endosocpy (ASGE) courses. Dr. Rajan has written several book chapters on the topic of Gastrointestinal Bleeding, Bioabsorbable Stents and Endoscopic Ultrasound for medical textbooks, and co-authored a web-based chapter. She co-compiled an ASGE Educational DVD on ‘Techniques for Hemostasis for nonvariceal upper GI bleeding’. Dr. Rajan’s bibliography includes 78 papers and her research interests have been focused on innovation in therapeutic endoscopy and endoscopic ultrasound. Dr. Rajan has served on the Editorial Board and Editorial Review Board of the journal Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. She was a past member of the ASGE Technology Assessment Committee and ASGE Standards of Practice Committee. She also holds several committee assignments within Mayo Clinic, and societal memberships with ASGE and ACG.
