Tomohiro Katsuya is a Research Associate Professor at the Department of Clinical Gene Therapy, Osaka University Graduate School of Medicine, Suita, Japan. His specific research focus is genetics of hypertension, cardiovascular disease, and progeroid syndrome. He collaborated many epidemiologists in Japan and carried out plural genetic epidemiological studies, such as the Suita study, the Ohasama study, the Tanno-Sobetsu study, and the Amagasaki study, successfully. The results of his research (more than 100 papers) have already published in major scientific journals. He is a Council Member of the Japanese Society of Hypertension, Japan Geriatric Society, and Society for Hypertension Related Disease Model Research. He served as a Referee of the Japanese Society of Hypertension Guidelines for the Management of Hypertension (JSH2009). Dr. Katsuya also received many awards as the Young Investigator Award, Japanese Circulation Society 2004, Investigator Award, Japanese Society of Internal Medicine 2004, and New Investigator Award, AHA Council for High Blood Pressure Research 2004.
