Salah Rubayi received the M.D. degree. He graduated from Baghdad University, Baghdad, Iraq, in 1966. He completed his general surgery and plastic surgery residency in UK with licensure from the Royal College of Surgeons and Physicians of Edinburgh, UK, in 1974. In 1981, he did a fellowship in burn surgery at LAC+USC Burn Unit and then Plastic Surgery Fellowship at Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center. Dr. Rubayi has been in the staff of Rancho during the last 26 years. Dr. Rubayi is the Chief of the Pressure Ulcer Management program and the Chairman of Department of Surgery. Dr. Rubayi is a Professor of clinical surgery, Division of Plastic Surgery at USC School of Medicine, Los Angeles, Calif, USA. Dr. Rubayi is a Fellow of the American College, a Fellow of the International Spinal Cord Society, and a Member of ASIA and American Paraplegia Society. Dr. Rubayi published and contributed to many publications in the field of reconstructive surgery of pressure ulcers. He participated in combined NIH research projects with USC, Department of Physical Therapy for electrical stimulation in wound healing and the Department of Occupational Therapy for pressure ulcers in SCI consumers. Dr. Rubayi is widely recognized as one of the nation’s leading experts in reconstructive surgery of pressure ulcers.
