Daniela Jezova

Daniela Ježová is a Full Professor of pharmacology at the Medical School of the Comenius University in Bratislava, Slovakia. She received her Ph.D. degree from the Charles University in Prague, and her Ph.D. degree of science from the Comenius University in Bratislava. She has been working as a Researcher and Head of the Laboratory of Pharmacological Neuroendocrinology of the Institute of Experimental Endocrinology of the Slovak Academy of Sciences since 1980. She is internationally recognized for her research in the field of pituitary hormone release, excitatory amino acids, and blood-brain barrier function particularly in relation to stress and psychiatric diseases in both clinical studies and animal models. She coordinated a successful EU Centre of Excellence project in 5FP. Her results were published in more than 160 papers in peer-reviewed international journals, which obtained more than 2000 citations. Ježová is the President of the Slovak Physiological Society, Scientific Secretary of the Czech Neuropsychopharmacological Society, Member of the Central Eastern European Committee of CINP (Collegium Internationale Neuro-Psychopharmacologicum), and Member of the Academia Europaea and other societies. She is an Associate Editor of Endocrine Regulations, and a Member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Neuroendocrinology. She obtained a prestigious national prize, Crystal Wing, of medicine and science in 2003.
