Leo E. H. Lampmann was born in Heerenveen, The Netherlands in 1943. He received his medical degree from the University of Groningen, Groningen, The Netherlands. He served as a government physician at Sint Eustatius and Curacao (Dutch Antilles) from 1972 to 1977. He completed his training for radiologist on the State University of Utrecht Utrecht, The Netherlands, in 1981, and received his Ph.D. degree at the same university in 1982. From 1082 to 2008, Lampmann was Member of Staff in the Department of Radiology of the St. Elisabeth Hospital, a major teaching facility in Tilburg, The Netherlands. From 1987 to 2003, he served as Chief of the department in the same hospital. General radiology is not his only main interest but interventional work has always been an important issue for him up to now, leading to many publications in this field. Lampmann is a Member of the Dutch Society of Radiology, (honorary) Member of the Dutch Society of Interventional Radiology, Member of the RSNA, and Fellow of CIRSE. He has served as reviewer on publications and books for several journals. In May 2008, he retired but he is still active in general as well as interventional radiology working part-time as consultant and free-lance fully registered radiologist.
