Mohammad Pessarakli received the B.S. degree (1977) in environmental resources in agriculture, the M.S. degree (1978) in agronomy from Arizona State University, and the Ph.D. degree (1981) in soil and water science from the University of Arizona, USA. He is a Research Professor and a Teaching Faculty in the School of Plant Sciences, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at the University of Arizona. His work at the University of Arizona includes research, extension services, and teaching. Dr. Pessarakli is the Editor of the Handbook of Plant and Crop Stress, Handbook of Plant and Crop Physiology, Handbook of Photosynthesis, and Handbook of Turfgrass Management and Physiology, all published by CRC Press. He has written 15 book chapters. He was an Editorial Board Member of Plant Nutrition and Communications in Soil Science and Plant Analysis Journals, a Member of the Book Review Committee of Crop Science Society of America, Reviewer of Crop Science, Agronomy, Soil Science Society of America, and Hort Science Journals. He is the author or coauthor of over 100 articles in 16 different journals. Dr. Pessarakli is an Active Member of the Agronomy Society of America and Crop Science Society of America, among others. He serves as an Executive Board Member of the American Association of the University Professors (AAUP), Arizona Chapter. Dr. Pessarakli is a well-known internationally recognized Scientist and Scholar and an Esteemed Member (invited) of several Who’s Who Societies (i.e., Sterling, Marques, Strathmore, & Madison) and numerous honor societies (i.e., Phi Kappa Phi & Gamma Sigma Delta). He is a Certified Professional Agronomist and Soil Scientist (CPAg/SS), designated by the American Registry of the Certified Professionals in Agronomy, Crop Science, and Soil Science. Dr. Pessarakli is a United Nations Consultant in Agriculture for underdeveloped countries. His environmental stress research work and expertise on plants and crops is internationally recognized.
