Joana Rocha

Joana Rocha was born in January 22nd, 1977, in Oporto, Portugal. Rocha finished her high school education in Barcelos, Portugal. When Rocha was 18 years old, she moved to Lisbon to perform her aeorspace/aeronautical engineering degree. Currently, she is a Ph.D. Candidate at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. She obtained Aeronautical Engineering degree, 6.5-Years Degree Progam, top of class with GPA: 80 out of 100 points (September 1995–April 2002), Portuguese Air Force Academy, in collaboration with Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), Technical University of Lisbon, Portugal. Rocha obtained an M.A.S. degree in mechanical engineering, 9.0/9.0 GPA, (2003–2005), Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Victoria, Canada with a thesis: “An Experimental Study and Flight Testing of Active Wing Structures,“ with Supervisor: Dr. Afzal Suleman, and she obtained a Ph.D. degree in mechanical engineering, 9.0/9.0 GPA (2010, expected) Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Victoria, Canada with Thesis: “Coupled Structural-Acoustic Analytical Models for Aircraft Turbulent-Boundary-Layer-Induced Noise: An Optimization and Noise Control Approach,“ with Supervisors: Dr. Afzal Suleman and Dr. Fernando Lau.
