Jing Shi is currently an associate professor in the Department of Industrial Engineering & Manufacturing Engineering at North Dakota State University. He received a Ph.D. in materials engineering from University of Science and Technology Beijing, China in 1998, and another Ph.D. in industrial engineering from Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN, USA in 2004. His research interests include wind potential evaluation, wind energy forecasting, wind energy storage, energy-efficient manufacturing, integration of renewable energy in grid system, modeling and optimization for healthcare systems, and wireless sensor network/RFID applications. He has authored and co-authored more than 100 papers, which are published in refereed journals and conference proceedings. He has secured more than $1.6M in research funding. Dr. Shi has been active in the professional societies – he is a member of IEEE, ASME, IIE, SHS, and INFORMS.
