Takashi Saku has obtained the D.D.S. degree from Faculty of Dentistry, Tokyo Medical and Dental University, Tokyo, Japan, in 1976. In 1976, Saku was licensed as a dental practitioner and received his Ph.D. degree in pathology from Kagoshima University School of Medicine, Kagoshima, Japan, in 1980. In 1980, Saku became Postdoctoral Fellow at the Department of Pathology, Kagoshima University School of Medicine, Kagoshima, Japan, in 1981 became an Assistant Professor at the Department of Pathology, Nagasaki University School of Dentistry, Nagasaki, Japan, in 1985 became Postdoctoral Associate at the Department of Pathology, Yale University School of Medicine, New Haven, Conn, USA, in 1989 became a Visiting Scholar at the Department of Immunology, Max-Planck Institute for Immunobiology, Freiburg, West Germany, in 1990 became a Professor and Chairperson at the Department of Pathology, Faculty of Dentistry, Niigata University, Niigata, Japan, and in 2000 became a Professor and Chairperson at the Division of Oral Pathology, Department of Tissue Regeneration and Reconstruction, Niigata University Graduate School of Medical and Dental Sciences, Niigata, Japan. Saku is Councilor at the Japanese Pathological Society, Member in the Japanese Cancer Association, Councilor at the Japanese Society of Oral Pathology, Member at the International Association of Oral Pathologists, Editor-in-chief of Journal of Oral Medicine and Pathology, and Section Editor of Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Medicine, and Pathology.
