Andreas Gocht was born in 1957 in Hamburg. In 1984, he received his license to practice medicine and in 1986 the D.M. degree in Hamburg. Thereafter, his places of appointments were as follows: (1984-1985) Department of Neuropathology, University of Hamburg; (1985-1986) Medical Academy of the German Armed Forces in Munich and German Armed Forces Command and General Staff College in Hamburg; (1986) Department of Histopathology of the Heinrich-Pette-Institute of Hamburg; (1986-1987) Veterans Administration Medical Center, Neurology Service Albany, NY, and Albany Medical College, Department of Neurology Albany; (1987-1993) Department of Neuroanatomy, University of Hamburg; (1993-1999) Institute of Pathology, Marienkrankenhaus Hamburg. In 1999-2003, he was a Senior Physician at the Department of Pathology, University of Hamburg. Since 2003, he has been an Associate of a private practice of pathology in Luebeck. In 1994, he was qualified as Senior Lecturer, and in 2001 he was appointed as Professor of the University of Hamburg. Dr. Gocht is Board Certified in pathology, molecular pathology, and anatomy. At present, he acts as Guest Professor at the Department of Anatomy of the University of Hamburg. He is Member of the following scientific communities: Deutsche Gesellschaft für Pathologie, Internationale Akademie für Pathologie, Deutsche Abteilung, Bundesverband Deutscher Pathologen e.V., Deutsche Gesellschaft für Neuropathologie und Neuroanatomie, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Elektronenmikroskopie, Anatomische Gesellschaft, Ärzteverein zu Lübeck, Verein der Pathologen Hamburgs, and Schleswig-Holsteins.
