José María Millan
José María Millán was born in Zaragoza, Spain, in 1965. He received the Biological Science degree and the Ph.D. degree from the University of Valencia in 1988 and 1995, respectively. In 1990, he received a fellowship to investigate on retinitis pigmentosa at the Department of Genetics of the University of Valencia. Since then, his field of research has focused mainly on the genetics of Usher syndrome, retinal dystrophies, and hereditary syndromic and nonsyndromic forms of deafness. Millán is currently the responsible for the molecular diagnostic of sensorineural and neurogenetic disorders at the University Hospital La Fe in Valencia, Spain and an Assistant Director of the Biomedical Research Network Centre for Rare Diseases (CIBERER) from Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation.
