Kooi-Mow Sim was born in Perak, Malaysia, in 1970. He received the B.S. degree (chemistry) (Upper Second Class ) and the Ph.D. degree (with distinction) in natural products chemistry from the University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in 1995 and 2001, respectively. From 2001 to 2004, Sim was a Senior Lecturer of the Tunku Abdul Rahman College, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. In 2004, he served as an Assistant Professor of the Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Presently, he serves as an Associate Professor and Head of Department, Department of Chemical Science, Faculty of Science, Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman. He is mainly interested in natural products chemistry, medicinal chemistry, and organic synthesis. He serves as an Associate Member of Malaysian Institute of Chemistry. In 2001, he was recipient of the Tan Sri Datuk Ong Kee Hui Postgraduate Chemistry Medal.
