Alan S. McNeilly, Ph.D., serves as a Program Leader, Principal Investigator, and Reproductive Endocrinologist working at the MRC Human Reproductive Sciences Unit in Edinburgh. He works as an Honorary Professor at the University of Edinburgh. He has a lifelong research interest in how the brain regulates ovarian function from molecular through cell to whole animal studies. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh and a Chair of the Society for Endocrinology Science Committee. He was the 2008 Dale Medalist of the Society for Endocrinology and the 2008 Marshall Medalist of the Society for Reproduction and Fertility. Previously, he served as an Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Endocrinology and as the Chairman of the Society for Reproduction and Fertility. His recent studies have investigated the role of oocyte proteins and growth factors on regulation of ovarian follicle growth and the microvasculature in regulation of the corpus luteum and fertility. He has published over 450 papers.
