Guido Crisponi obtained his degree in chemistry in 1968. Since then he has been working at Cagliari University, Cagliari, Italy, where he serves as a Full Professor of analytical chemistry Since 2001. Crisponi also worked as the President of Società Chimica Italiana Sezione Sardegna in from 2000 to 2001 and the Dean of Chemical Sciences Department from 2004 to 2007. His publications as a guest editor include the following: 2004 Annali di Chimica, vol. 94, in memory of Professor D. De Filippo; 2008 Coordination Chemistry Reviews, vol. 252, devoted to ISMEC 2007; 2012 Coordination Chemistry Reviews, vol. 256, devoted to the European Group of Thermodynamics of Metal Complexes. During his activity he has joined various international collaborations, during which a wide exchange of students, Ph.D. and Postdoc students, took place. Crisponi is the author of more than 100 publications concerning (1) factors affecting the reliability of parameters calculated in the spectrophotometric study of equilibria, (2) methods for the calculation of stability and spectral parameters, and (3) interaction in solution between metal ions and molecules of biological interest. His main interest is molecules designed for the removal of toxic metal ions from the body (chelation therapy). He attended over 100 congresses presenting communications and seven plenary lectures and delivered lectures in various universities.
