Christopher Lau

Christopher Lau received his A.B. degree in chemistry/zoology from the Duke University, Durham, NC, USA, in 1975. In 1982, he obtained his Ph.D. degree in pharmacology from the Duke University. From 1982 to 1984, he acted as a Research Associate at the Department of Anatomy, Medical College of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, Pa, USA. From 1984 to 1990, he was a research scientist at the NSI Technology Services, Environmental Sciences, Research Triangle Park. From 1990 to 2005, he was a pharmacologist, and since 2005, he has been a lead research biologist at the Reproductive Toxicology Division, National Health and Environmental Effects Research Laboratory, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Research Triangle Park. Since 1984, he has worked as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Department of Pharmacology and Cancer Biology, Duke University Medical Center. From 2002 to 2004, Lau served as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Department of Biology, North Carolina Central University, Durham, and from 2004 till now, an Adjunct Professor at the Department of Molecular Biomedical Sciences, College of Veterinary Medicine, North Carolina State University, Raleigh, NC, USA. He received selected awards and honors such as a Fellowship in Pharmacology-Morphology, Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association Foundation (1983), Best Paper Award in Toxicology Applied Pharmacology, Society of Toxicology (1994), ORD Scientific and Technological Achievement Award, Level I (1995), NHEERL Award for exceptional activities impacting diversity efforts (2002), NHEERL Award for teamwork in human health research MYIP (2003), NHEERL Award for training minority graduate students (2005), NHEERL Award for developing safe product/safe pesticides MYIP (2005), EPA-OPPTS Bronze Medal for commendable service (2005), EPA-ORD Bronze Medal for commendable service (2006), NHEERL Award for science integration-interdivisional laboratory research (2006), and EPA Gold Medal for risk management of perfluorinated compounds (2008).
