Engin Serpersu is with the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Tenn, USA. He has received his B.S. in chemistry from the Middle East Technical University in 1973 and his Ph.D. in biochemistry from Hacettepe University in 1978, Ankara, Turkey. In 1978, he received Alexander von Humboldt Postdoctoral Fellowship to study as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Department of Biochemistry and Endocrinology at the Veterinary School in the University of Giessen, Germany. He continued his postdoctoral work in the Johns Hopkins Medical School in Baltimore, Md, USA, and joined the Department of Biochemistry at the University of Tennessee as an Assistant Professor. He is currently a Professor in the Department of Biochemistry Cellular and Molecular Biology at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. He established and served as the Director of the Center of Excellence in Structural Biology at the University of Tennessee, he served in the scientific advisory committee for the 2006 annual FEBS Meeting, and serving in the scientific advisory board of Turkish Journal of Biochemistry and Turkish clinical medical sciences journals.
