Jim R. Kuykendall
Jim R. Kuykendall received B.S. degrees in biology and biochemistry in 1983 from Virginia Tech. He received his Doctorate in biochemistry in 1988 from the University of Tennessee-Memphis, Memphis, Tenn, where he studied toxicity of vitamin analogs in mouse erythroleukemia cells. He completed an academic postdoctoral fellowship in molecular pharmacology of antitumor antibiotics at Harvard Medical School. This was followed by an industrial postdoctoral fellowship studying aldehyde toxicity in Inhalation Toxicology Divison of the Haskell Laboratory at DuPont, in Newark, Delaware. In 1994, he started Toxigen Consulting, a small company specializing in industrial toxicology and exposure assessment. Dr. Kuykendall also completed a Doctorate in pharmacy in 1998 at Idaho State University. In addition to work as a Registered Pharmacist in many areas of the pharmacy field, he continues to be active in toxicology and has been a board certified toxicologist since 2005. His areas of expertise in toxicology include heavy metals, air and water pollutants, antitumor antibiotics, volatile organic compounds, psychoactive medications, herbal medications, and dietary supplements.
