Helder T. Gomes graduated in Chemical Engineering in 1997 and obtained his Ph.D. degree in 2002 at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto, Oporto, Portugal with the thesis entitled “Catalytic wet air oxidation of organic pollutants” (under the supervision of Dr. Joaquim Luís Faria). Gomes currently works as an Adjunct Professor at Bragança Polytechnic Institute ,Bragança , Portugal and a Member of the LSRE/LCM National Associated Laboratory. His scientific activity includes the publication of 2 chapters in books, more than 20 papers in international scientific periodicals with referees, 13 papers in conference proceedings, and presentations of more than 20 oral communications and 40 posters in conferences. His Hirsh index at the moment is 12 and he has more than 400 citations. Dr. Helder’s supervising experience includes 1 Ph.D. student and 7 M.S. students. The main current scientific interests include the preparation and characterization of heterogeneous nanostructured catalysts and materials for applications in the areas of environment, renewable energy, and biomedical engineering.
