Dr. Noureddine Yassaa is Professor of Chemistry at the Faculty of Chemistry, Houari Boumediene University of Sciences and Technology (USTHB) in Algiers, Algeria. He received his doctorate in Chemistry in 2001 from USTHB. Subsections of his doctoral work were achieved at the Institute for Atmospheric Pollution, National Research Council (IIA-CNR) in Rome, Italy. Between 2004 and 2008 he worked as a Research Scientist at the Max-Planck Institute for Chemistry (MPI-C) in Mainz, Germany. Since 2010, he serves as the President of the Scientific Committee of the Organic Chemistry Department at USTHB. For many years, Dr. Yassaa has participated in many national, regional and international research projects and aircraft-, ship- and ground-based campaigns in different locations around the globe (Southern and Northern Atlantic Oceans, Tropical, Boreal and Temperate Forests, etc.). His current research involves investigating the role of organic trace gases in the atmospheric chemistry, the aerosol formation, the ocean acidification and the climate.
