Mao-Sheng Ran, M.D., Ph.D., earned a medicine degree from West China University of Medical Sciences (China) and the Ph.D. degree in social work and mental health from The University of Hong Kong. He was an NIH Fellow at the Department of Psychiatry, University of Rochester (NY, USA) from 2002 to 2003 and as a Postdoctoral Fellow at The University of Hong Kong from 2003 to 2005. Currently, he serves as a Professor of health science at University of Guam (USA). He works also as a Visiting Professor at the Department of Psychiatry, West China School of Medicine, Sichuan University (Chengdu, China). He is a Committee Member of The Transcultural Psychiatry Section of Chinese Psychiatry Association (CPA-TPS) and a Member of The Transcultural Psychiatry Section of World Psychiatry Association (WPA-TPS) and American Association of Suicidology (AAS). His research interests include social psychiatry, community mental health, psychiatric epidemiology, suicide prevention, family intervention, health disparities, and disaster event. He published over 90 papers in several notable journals.
