Arthur Robert McGurn

Arthur Robert McGurn was born in Burbank, Calif, USA in 1949. He is a theoretical physicist, receiving the physics B.A. degree (summa cum laude) and Ph.D. degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1971 and 1975, respectively. He did postdoctoral work at Temple University, Michigan State University, and George Washington University. Joining the faculty at Western Michigan University in 1981, he is currently Professor of physics. He is fellow of a number of scientific and physics societies and his research interests include light scattering and speckle correlations, photonic crystals, and nanophotonics, metamaterials, Anderson localization, nonlinear optics, and quantum optics and information. Most recently he is working on transport properties of graphene and related materials. Earlier in his career his work focused on the statistical mechanics of magnetic and electronic systems. He has over 140 scientific publications.
