Maurizio Martelli is an Assistant Professor of hematology and the Head of the Lymphoma Unit of the Department of Hematology at the Sapienza University of Roma, Italy. In 1981, he received his M.D. degree from the University Sapienza medical school of Rome, Italy, followed by postgraduate specialisations in haematology and oncology. Since 1990, he was employed at the Hematology Institute of Rome. His research interests focus on clinical trials and of new drugs development in the treatment of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. He has been involved in many trials. Since 2000, he has been on the Scientific Board of the Italian Intergroup Lymphoma (IIL) group, and actually, he is the Chairman of aggressive lymphoma working party of IIL. Also he works and is in the Scientific Board of Extranodal Lymphoma Group (IELSG). He is a Member of several professional societies as the American Society of Hematology, European Society of Hematology, and Italian Society of Hematology. He has published more than 80 peer-reviewed articles and 200 abstracts in most leading journals of hematology and oncology.
