Edoardo G. Giannini

Edoardo G. Giannini is an Assistant Professor of gastroenterology at the University of Genova, Genova, Italy. Dr. Giannini received his M.D. degree at the University of Genoa, where he obtained also his Ph.D. degree in clinical and experimental gastroenterology. Dr. Giannini serves as a Research Mentor for fellows, residents, and medical students at the Local University. His research interests are focused on liver diseases, and in particular liver function, portal hypertension, and hepatocellular carcinoma. More recently, his research has aimed at evaluating the pathophysiological aspects of thrombocytopenia in patients affected by chronic liver disease. In addition to his research activity, Dr. Giannini is involved in clinical work at both the San Martino University Hospital and the Outpatients Clinic of the Sovereign Military Order of Saint John of Jerusalem, Rhodes, and Malta. He is a Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG), and a Member of the European Association for the Study of the Liver (EASL) and of the Italian Association for the Study of the Liver (AISF). Dr. Giannini serves on the Editorial Board of the World Journal of Gastroenterology, and regularly serves as a peer reviewer for the most important gastroenterology journals, and has published more than 100 scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals.
