Joshua R. Mauney

Mauney received the Ph.D. degree and he is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at Harvard Medical School in the Department of Surgery and a Staff Scientist at Boston Children’s Hospital in the Department of Urology. He received his B.S. in 1999 from the Department of Chemical Engineering at Tufts University, Medford, Mass, USA, and the Ph.D. degree in 2004 from the same department. During my postdoctoral studies at Tufts University, he acquired expertise in silk fibroin-based biomaterials as well as mesenchymal stem cell biology pertinent to bone and adipose tissue engineering. His research as a faculty member is currently focused on strategies for visceral hollow organ tissue regeneration including urogenital and gastrointestinal systems employing silk-based biomaterials and embryonic stem cell derivatives.
