Seyed-Hassan Jafari is a Full Professor and the Head of the Department of Polymer Engineering, School of Chemical Engineering, University of Tehran, Iran. He is also the Head of Nano-Technology Group at School of Chemical Engineering. Professor Jafari received his B.S. degree from the University of Tehran, Tehran, Iran, in 1988, and M.Tech. and Ph.D. degrees both from Indian Institute of Technology-Delhi (IIT-Delhi), India, in 1993 and 1999, respectively. After a short postdoctoral research stay at IIT-Delhi, he moved to Germany and served as a Guest Scientist at the Institute of Polymer Research, Dresden (IPF Dresden), from 1999 to 2003. During this period, he had close collaboration with Bayer AG, Germany, and Biotronik, Switzerland. He served as an Editorial Board Member for Iranian Polymer Journal from 2007 till 2011. He is also a Member of the Editorial Boards for several national scientific journals including Iranian Journal of Polymer Science and Technology, Polymer and Color, Nano World, and Separation and Transport Phenomena. He is a Member of different national and international scientific societies including American Nano Society, Iranian Society of Chemical Engineers, and Iranian Polymer Society. His main research fields are structure-properties correlation, morphology, rheology, and thermal properties of multicomponents polymer blends, and nanofilled polymeric systems as well as plasma functionalization of carbon nanotubes, nanofibrous wound dressing materials, biodegradable and biomedical polymers, development of nanocomposites via in situ polymerization reactions, and melt blending. Professor Jafari is a highly cited author (~ 1000 citations) of over 100 international peer-reviewed articles.
