Kurt Johnsen

Kurt Johnsen received his B.S. degree from the University of Vermont, Burlington, VT, USA; M.S. degree from Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, VA, USA; and Ph.D. degree from the University of Georgia, Athens, GA, USA. Following school, he worked as a Scientist for the Canadian Forest Service for seven years and has joined the US Forest Service since 1997. Johnsen is a Scientist and Team Leader at the US Forest Service Southern Research Station Forest Genetics and Ecosystems Biology Project. His research interests are in the areas of physiological genetics, carbon sequestration, and soils in both intensive plantation management and forest restoration systems, typically with consideration of potential interactions with climate change.
