Gian Carlo Di Renzo
Gian Carlo Di Renzo was a Research Fellow at the Universities of Verona, Messina, and Modena, after graduation cum laude at Medical School of the University of Padova. Since 2004, he is the Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Perugia. He was the General Secretary of the Italian Society of Perinatal Medicine, the Secretary-Treasurer, and the President of the European Association of Perinatal Medicine from 2000 to 2002, and since 2002 he is the Executive Director and the Chairman of the Educational Committee. During 1996, he is the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Maternal Fetal and Neonatal Medicine. He is a Founding Member of the World Association of Perinatal Medicine, the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology, and the International Academy of Perinatal Medicine. Renzo is the honorary Member of several obstetrics and gynecology societies around the world, and also of the Croatian Society of Ultrasound in Medicine, the Spanish and the Ibero American Societies of Prenatal Diagnosis, and the Romanian Academy of Sciences. He has been awarded the Gold Medal of the Bangladesh Society of Ob/Gyn, the Foundation Corradi Prize for Scientific Research (1998), the Liley Medal from the Fetus as a Patient International Society (2006), and the Allan Chang Visiting Professorship (Hong Kong, 2007). He has been awarded the Doctor Honoris Causa from the University of Athens (2008) and the Honoris Causa from the Iuliu Hatieganu University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Cluj-Napoca, Romania (2008). His scientific production comprises over 1100 papers and 65 books. Renzo is the author of the major Italian treatise of Obstetrics and Gynecology for Verduci Pbl., Rome, 2005 (2nd edition 2008). He also coauthored with Umberto Simeoni the atlas The Neonate and Perinate for Informa Healthcare, Oxford, 2006. He has been invited as speaker to more than 800 international and national congresses, meetings, and courses.
