Yen Jen Chen was born in Taichung, Taiwan, in 1962. He received the M.D. degree from the Yang-Ming University, Taipei, Taiwan in 1987. From 1996 to 2005, he was an Attending Physician of the Orthopedic Department at the Taichung Veterans General Hospital, Taiwan. From September 1999 to June 2000, he was a Clinical Fellow at the State University of New York, Health Science Center at Syracuse. From July 2000 to August 2000, he was a Clinical Fellow at the Kansas University Medical Center. Since 2005, he is an Attending Physician of the Orthopedic Department at the China Medical University Hospital, Taichung, Taiwan. Presently, he is an Assistant Professor at the China Medical University and the Chief of the Division of Spine Surgery, China Medical University Hospital. He is mainly interested in spinal surgery, especially in osteoporotic compression fractures, metastatic spinal disease, and spinal infectious disease.
