Kentaro Watanabe

Kentaro Watanabe was born on the 21st of May, 1951. He is Chairman and Professor of the Department of Respiratory Medicine, Fukuoka University School of Medicine, Fukuoka, Japan since 2005. He received his M.D. and Ph.D. degrees from Kyushu University, Fukuoka, Japan, in 1976 and 1984, respectively. Watanabe held different positions since his graduation including Resident of the Department of Medicine, Kyushu University Hospital in 1976–1978, Assistant Professor of Research Institute for Diseases of the Chest, Faculty of Medicine, Kyushu University in 1983–1986, Visiting Research Fellow of the Division of Hematology/Medical Oncology, Department of Medicine, Weill Cornell Medical College, New York, NY, USA, in 1986–1988, and Visiting Clinician at the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine of Mayo Clinic, Scottsdale, Ariz, USA, in 2000.
