Debra A. Hoppensteadt
Debra A. Hoppensteadt is an Associate Professor of pathology and pharmacology and a Technical Director of the Hemostasis and Thrombosis Research Laboratories at Loyola University Medical Center, where she has spent the past 25 years. She also serves as a Consultant to the Special Hematology Laboratory at Loyola Medical Center. She received her B.S. and M.S. degrees from the University of Illinois Medical Center Campus. She completed her Ph.D. degree at the University of London, Imperial College of Medicine, Science and Technology in vascular medicine. In 1998, she joined the Faculty at Loyola University Medical Center and is currently teaching and doing research at Loyola. She is certified as a Medical Technologist and as a Specialist in Hematology through the American Society of Pathologists. She is also a Member of the Royal Society of Medicine in London, England. Her professional affiliations include being a Member of American Society of Medical Technologists, American Society of Clinical Pathologists, American Association of Clinical Chemistry, International Academy of Clinical and Applied Hemostasis and Thrombosis, and the International Society of Thrombosis and Hemostasis. She is also the Scientific Secretary for the International Institute of Blood and Vascular Disorders. She has authored or coauthored some 150 publications in the area of hemostasis and thrombosis. She also serves on the Editorial Board of several journals. Her research interests include the role of tissue factor pathway inhibitor polymorphism in patients with vascular disorders. In addition, she has an interest in the identification of surrogate markers in high-risk pregnancy and other diseases involving inflammation and thrombosis.
