Tron Eid received his M.S. degree in forestry and his Ph.D. degree in forest mensuration and planning at the Norwegian Agricultural University, Norway, in 1984 and 1990, respectively. His research has been dealing with forest management planning in a wide meaning of the term, that is, forest inventory and sampling, forest production and growth modeling, and bioeconomic analyses and decision-making. His research has mainly dealt with Norwegian conditions, but over the past 5 years, forestry in tropical countries has also been an important topic. Eid is presently teaching at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences at B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. levels.
