Goran Karapetrov graduated with an M.S. degree in physics from Lomonosov Moscow State University, Moscow, Russia in 1991, and with a Ph.D. degree in physics from Oregon State University, Corvallis, Ore, USA in 1996. After a postdoctoral appointment at Argonne National Laboratory (1997-2000), Karapetrov has been a Staff Member at Materials Science Division, Argonne National Laboratory (2000-2010). Currently, he serves as an Associate Professor in physics at Drexel University, Philadelphia, Penn where he heads a scanning probe microscopy group. His research interests span from strongly correlated electron systems, hybrid materials for energy applications to biofunctionalized surfaces used in molecular electronics and biosensors.
