Alessandra Nara Souza Rastelli
Alessandra Nara Souza Rastelli has received her Ph.D. degree which dealt with the use of blue LEDs on light-curing dental composite resins and their influence on different properties from the Department of Restorative Dentistry, Araraquara School of Dentistry, University of São Paulo State, Araraquara, SP, Brazil, in 2004. She is an Assistant Professor of dentistry at the Department of Restorative Dentistry, Araraquara School of Dentistry, University Estadual Paulista (UNESP), Araraquara, SP, Brazil, and a Researcher at the Biophotonics Laboratory, Optical Group, Physics Institute of São Carlos, University of São Paulo, São Carlos, SP, Brazil. She serves also as a Researcher at the Crystal Growth and Ceramic Materials Group, Physics Institute of São Carlos, University of São Paulo, São Carlos, SP, Brazil. Before that, she was a Postdoctoral Fellow at Optical Group/Biophotonics at the Physics Institute of São Carlos, University of São Paulo. Professor Rastelli is also a Visiting Fellow of Clinical Photonics Laboratory (CPL) at the School in Advanced Optics Technologies (SAOT), Friedrich Alexander University, Erlangen Nurnberg. Her fourteen-year experience includes four years as a Clinical Dentist (1997–2000), six years in the academic environment as a Researcher (2005–2010), seven years at the university as a Professor (2002–2005, 2008–2010), and two years in industry as a Researcher Dentist (2005–2010) in the field of experimental and clinical nanotechnology and biophotonics, including aesthetics, diagnostic, and therapeutics applications. Her research interests include high- and low-level lasers, the use of LEDs in Dentistry, fluorescence diagnostic, infrared and Raman spectroscopy, photodynamic antimicrobial chemical therapy (PACT) for Dentistry, and applications of nanoscale technologies.
