Michael D. Crossland works as a Senior Research Fellow at Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge, UK, and Specialist Optometrist in low vision at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London, UK. His Ph.D. degree was awarded by the University of London, London, UK, in 2004 for work performed on the development of the preferred retinal locus in macular disease. His subsequent research has centred on the assessment and rehabilitation of people with visual impairment. Crossland is a Member of the College of Optometrists, a Committee Member of the International Society for Low Vision Research and Rehabilitation, and Leader of the Optometric Low Vision group of the European Academy of Optometry and Optics. He has over 30 publications in the peer-reviewed literature and has given invited talks on three continents.
