Michele Morelli was born in Pisa, Italy, in 1965. He received his M.S. degree (cum laude) in electronic engineering from the University of Pisa, Italy, in 1991. From 1992 to 1995, he has been working at the Department of Information Engineering of the University of Pisa, where he received the Ph.D. degree in telecommunication engineering. From 1996 to 2002, he held the position of a Research Scientist at the Italian National Research Council (CNR), at the Centro Studio Metodi e Dispositivi per Radiotrasmissioni (CSMDR), Pisa. He works currently as an Associate Professor of telecommunications at the Department of Information Engineering of the University of Pisa. He has been serving as the Scientific Manager of several research projects with private as well as public funding and was a TPC Member of some international conferences. Since 1991, he has actively worked in the field of digital communication, with emphasis on synchronization algorithms for CDMA and multicarrier systems, channel estimation and equalization techniques, physical layer algorithms for multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems, and precoding techniques for interference mitigation. He has published 55 journal papers and coauthored a book titled Multicarrier Techniques for Broadband Wireless Access: A Signal Processing Perspective. He contributed to the book titled Telecommunications Encyclopedia with a chapter, and since 2005, he has been a Member of the Committee for the Assignment of the Innovation Award promoted by Finmeccanica. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE and is currently serving as an Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications.
