Leonidas H. Duntas

Leonidas H. Duntas is Professor of Internal Medicine and Endocrinology of the Medical School at the University of Ulm, Germany, and Clinical and Research Associate at the Endocrine Clinic, Evgenidion Hospital, University of Athens, Greece. He is also visiting Professor at the Universities of Beograd and Novi Sad (Serbia). After obtaining his medical degree at the University of Bologna, Italy, he specialized in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology at the University of Ulm. His main research interest is clinical Thyroidology and in particular the influence of the environment, especially as regards selenium, on thyroid function and development of thyroid cancer. He is an elected member of the Executive Committee of the ETA, and currently he is the Chairman of the Educational Board and of Public Affairs Board of the ETA. He is an active member of the American Thyroid Association, the Hellenic Endocrine Association, the German Society of Endocrinology, the German Society of Internal Medicine, and is past president of the Hellenic Association for the Study of Obesity and Metabolism. Professor Duntas is the author of numerous peer-reviewed original articles and reviews in scientific journals and textbooks as well as the editor of three books. He is a regular reviewer for a number of international journals, member of several editorial boards, among these that of Thyroid, and Associate-Editor of the Journal Hormones (Athens).
