Marina de Bernard

Marina de Bernard was born in Trieste, Italy, in 1969. She graduated with honors from the University of Padova, Padua, Italy, specializing in biology. she has carried out her research mainly at this institution, in addition to the University of Geneva, the Université Libre in Bruxelles, and the EMBL in Heidelberg. After she had received her Ph.D. degree in 2002, and ever since, she has been working as a Researcher at the Science Faculty of the University of Padova. She has carried out studies on the mechanism of action of virulence factors produced by H. pylori in the group coordinated by Professor Cesare Montecucco. At present, she has an independent group at the Venetian Institute of Molecular Medicine in Padova, where she studies the immunomodulatory activity of factors produced by pathogenic bacteria.
