Gianluca Cicala

Gianluca Cicala received the Ph.D. degree, title “Polymeric materials for special uses” from the University of Catania on February 25, 2004 being advised by Professor A. Recca. The title of the thesis was “ Study and development of novel technologies for the production of advanced composites by RTM.” Since November 2010, he has been an Associate Professor of materials science and technology; since July 2010, he is a Member of the Executive Board for the Joint Agreement between the University of Catania and ENEA; since March 2009, he is also a Member of Scientific Council of the National Consortium for Science and Technology of Materials (INSTM). Professor Cicala has authored and/or coauthored 31 papers on international refereed journals, 3 papers on national journals with editorial board, 2 chapters on books, 33 proceedings on national and international conferences, 1 national Patent, and 1 international patent. The papers published by Professor Cicala have received a total of 213 citations (http://www.researcherid.com/rid/A-4496-2009) and his h-index is equal to 9. The research activity of Professor Cicala is focused on development of novel production process for composites; polymeric blends; eco-composites; material characterization. He has been awarded with his team with the Polymer Challenge 2008 award for the innovative technology for the RTM manufacturing of cellular auxetic composites. He has been awarded also with his team with the Ingegnamoci 2010 award for the innovative technology for the RTM manufacturing of cellular auxetic composites.
