Yoshimitu Sakaguchi was born in Nara, Japan, in 1957. He received the M.S. degree and the Ph.D. degree in macromolecular science from Osaka University, Osaka, Japan, in 1982 and 1992, respectively. He joined Toyobo Co., Ltd in 1982 and has been carrying out his research work up to the present at Research Center at Ohtsu, Japan. He served as a Visiting Scientist at the Department of Polymer Science, University of Akron, USA during 1987–1988. He has been Manager of Project E, Corporate Research Center in Toyobo since 2007 and also Senior Coordinator at New Business Planning Department since 2009. His research activity is in polymer synthesis, especially high performance polymers such as polysulfones, poly(ether ketone)s, polyimides, aramids, and heterocyclic polymers. His recent work is development of polymer electrolyte membranes for fuel cells. He is an author and coauthor of around 50 original papers, reviews, and books and around 200 applied patents.
