Marco Volante

Marco Volante was born in June 24, 1971 in Moncalieri, Turin, Italy. He is a Researcher in pathology, University of Turin. He completed his Ph.D. degree in human oncology at the University of Turin from 1997 to 1999 and his residency in pathology at the University of Turin from 2000 to 2004. His diagnostic activity is routine daily practice in cytopathology and histopathology, with special reference to the field of endocrine pathology. His research projects include 2002 Young Researcher grant by the University of Turin, 2005–2009 annual grants from the Italian Ministry of University, and 2003–2009 individual research grants as a principal investigator or coinvestigator from Regione Piemonte. Moreover, he has been a Course Leader in biotechnologies applied to anatomic pathology, Biotechnology Faculty, University of Turin, since 2006; a Course Leader in autopsy techniques, Postgraduate School of Pathology, and in anatomic pathology, Postgraduate School of Oral Surgery, University of Turin, since 2006; a Course Leader in immunohistochemistry techniques, Laboratory Technician Schools, University of Turin, since 2008. Since 1996, he authored 93 original papers in national and international journals (Total IF: >300), 7 book chapters, and 94 abstracts in national and international meetings. He served as a reviewer for 20 international journals. He has been a contributor for the Thyroid and Parathyroid and Endocrine Pancreas chapters in the 2004 WHO Classification of Tumours of Endocrine Organs. He has been a Member of the European Society of Pathology since 2000, Italian Society of Anatomic Pathology and Cytology since 2002, Endocrine Pathology Society since 2006, and the European Neuroendocrine Tumor Society since 2009. From 2003 to 2007, he was a Secretary of the Endocrine Pathology Working Group of the European Society of Pathology, actually a Member of the Advisory Board.
