Srinivasan Palaniappan received an M.S. degree in chemistry from the University of Madurai in 1985 and a Ph.D. degree in polymer science from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore in 1991. He had worked as a Scientific Officer at Central Power Research Institute, Bangalore (1991–1998). He has been working with the Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, Hyderabad as a Scientist since 1998. Palaniappan authored over 90 publications in leading refereed journals, 4 reviews, 2 general articles, and has 12 patents. He visited South Korea, Singapore, France, and Japan. His research work encompasses synthesis, characterization, and evaluation of conducting polymer-based materials for coating, batteries, supercapacitors, sensors, polymeric light emitting diodes, electrostatic discharge materials and catalysts. He has been awarded IICT best performance patent award for four times.
