Cesario F. Bianchi
Cesario F. Bianchi is a medical graduate from Santa Casa de Sao Paulo, Brazil (1981) with an M.S. degree in pathology (University of Montreal, QC, Canada, 1985) and a Ph.D. degree in experimental medicine (McGill University, QC, Canada, 1989). He was a Medical Research Council of Canada Postdoctoral Fellow at Massachusetts General Hospital, Mass, USA (from 1988 till 1991). Dr. Bianchi is presently an Assistant Professor of surgery (research) at Rhode Island Hospital and Alpert Medical School at Brown University, RI, USA. He has published over 190 peer-reviewed publications, including 3 patents and 11 review articles/book chapters. Dr. Bianchi’s research interests have always been in cardiovascular diseases, more recently, the influence of diets/alcohol on acute myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury and identification of biomarkers for major complications of cardiac surgeries. He has broad research training in the cardiovascular system spanning from light/electron microscopy to molecular and cellular biology.
