Dan Benhamou, M.D. is Professor of Anesthesia and Intensive Care and Chairman of Anesthesia at the Hopital de Bicetre, Kremlin Bicetre, France. Dr. Benhamou received a medical degree from the Paris XII University. After post-graduate training in anesthesia and intensive care, and thesis research, he was appointed Associate Professor of Anesthesia and Intensive Care at Hopital Antoine Beclere Clamart, and Chairman of Anesthesia and Intensive Care at Universite Paris-Sud. Dr. Benhamou’s research interests include acute pain, regional anesthesia, obstetric anesthesia, blood transfusion and quality of care. He is active in several professional societies including the European Society of Anesthesiologists, the Societe Francaises d’Anesthesie-Reanimation and the American Society of Anesthesiologists. Dr. Benhamou has been nominated by the French Ministry of Health to serve on the National Committee of Experts on Maternal Mortality, by the French Food and Drug Agency to the Experts Group on Drugs in Pregnancy and is also an advisor for the French Blood Agency. Dr. Benhamou has served as Editorial Board member and reviewer for several French and international journals. He has authored or co-authored over 250 articles published in peer-reviewed journals.
